While I don't do a resolution, like I said it is a good time to think ahead. It's been nine months since Motivate Your Writing! came out; I've finished a first draft of my novel experiment, and I'm thinking of the next nonfiction book.
Indeed, I already have an outline for Motivation for Life, which is my working title. I saw it as a general guide for motivation in work, home, etc., leveraging the same basic principles but applying them much more widely. I have an agent now, who helped me tinker with it, but since we worked on it (a while ago now), she suggests I might want to focus down a bit more on motivation in the workplace. My original thought was to start big and general and then spin off specialized books. Unlike MYW!, I am aiming this at the big time, I hope--like Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence books, I want a bigger market.
I'm open to input on this, and while this is hardly an unbiased audience, I am curious as to how people on this group would respond to the question of which first. So I'm experimenting with the Poll Builder function in Xjournal. I'll put it after an LJ Cut.
Here it is:
Motivation for Life: broad application to work, parenting, home, etc.
Motivation on the Job: motivation applied to work, in terms of selecting a job, motivating and influencing people, etc.
Motivate Your Writing2: A workbook, perhaps?
All of them!
None of them
